Feeling stuck bringing your ideas to life?

If you’re struggling to express your thoughts clearly and authentically, you’re not alone. Here are some common challenges you might be facing as you create innovative and impactful academic manuscripts, grant proposals, annual reports, textbooks, instructional materials, and other professional documents:

  • Person sitting at a computer with many tabs open

    Perfectionism

Do you find yourself caught in a cycle of endless revisions—striving for perfection but never feeling satisfied?

  • A person with their hands over the ears with a speech bubble that shows a squiggly line

    Constrained Voice

Is it challenging to express your authentic voice within the confines of restrictive genres and conventions?

  • 4 people protesting holding a sign with a fist, another sign with an exclamation mark, holding a megaphone, and holding a banner

    Impact Concerns

Do you worry that your work might not achieve the impact you hope for despite your dedication?

  • A person sitting at a computer with their head in their hands and papers scattered on their desk

    Fragmented Focus

Do distractions and competing priorities make it hard to dedicate time to deep, meaningful work?

Your voice and vision deserve to be heard—I can help.

How can I help you amplify your ideas?

  • a blank piece of paper with a lightbulb with a question mark inside and a pencil and eraser on the paper

    Planning and Strategy

From the initial spark of an idea, I work closely with you to shape and refine your vision. Through brainstorming sessions, we identify the core elements of your project and navigate any potential challenges to ensure your work is innovative and grounded. Together, we create a roadmap to guide you with confidence and clarity.

  • someone sitting in front of a laptop doing a video call, the person on the screen is smiling

    Drafting and Development

I collaborate with you to transform your ideas into compelling research publications, instructional resources, and other essential materials. While I can develop curriculum and certain documents from scratch, my role in research publications and similar projects is to support and guide you in crafting your own work.

— Kristin Houck, PhD

Hi, I’m Rebekah Gordon, PhD (she/her).

I'm a creative scholar and education consultant with a passion for helping others find their authentic voice. With a PhD in curriculum, instruction, and teacher education from Michigan State University and over 15 years of teaching experience across the globe, I have guided countless writers in expressing their unique perspectives.

My path hasn't been without its challenges. After becoming a mother, I faced the overwhelming decision of whether to continue my doctoral studies. By embracing my identity as a motherscholar, I began to unfurl my voice and commit to work that was deeply meaningful to me. This experience taught me the importance of balancing conventional expectations with personal authenticity, a lesson I carry into all my professional endeavors.

I’m passionate about the transformative power of empathy and community in spaces that often feel overly critical and isolating. Despite the increasing sophistication of AI-powered tools, I still believe that the creative and caring support of a human is unparalleled. My journey has equipped me with the insights and understanding to help others navigate their own challenges with confidence and joy.

“Rebekah—look at these fiddlehead ferns!”

“Those are ferns? They’re so tiny! Where are all the fronds?”

“They’re all coiled up and tucked away in there. The fiddlehead protects them as they emerge from the ground. With the right conditions, they will unfurl and reveal their beauty.”

The wisdom my father shared with me that day in the forest so many years ago has stuck with me. To this day, ferns are one of my favorite plants. To witness their miraculous transformation from fiddlehead to bushy/flamboyant/burgeoning plant is to understand self-preservation and the delicate journey to reaching one’s full potential.

What better metaphor exists to reflect our own struggles and personal growth?

As a young child, my dad would take me to the woods to explore nature’s treasures.
Even though he dropped out of college, he wanted to make sure he passed on knowledge from his conservation courses to his daughters. Before dropping out of college, my dad studied conservation. He made sure he passed on as much knowledge about the natural world to his daughtersAs a fellow wordsmith, he loved to share all of the unique names of the native plants around us: shared various terminology with me, including Indigenous and Latin names of the native trees, flowers, and plants
