    Perfectionism

  • A person with their hands over the ears with a speech bubble that shows a squiggly line

    Constrained Voice

Is it challenging to express your authentic voice within the confines of restrictive genres and conventions?

  • 4 people protesting holding a sign with a fist, another sign with an exclamation mark, holding a megaphone, and holding a banner

    Impact Concerns

Do you worry that your work might not achieve the impact you hope for despite your dedication?

  • A person sitting at a computer with their head in their hands and papers scattered on their desk

“Rebekah created a nurturing space for my ideas while challenging me to explore alternative perspectives and deepen my thinking through targeted questions and thoughtful resource recommendations. She met me where I was intellectually and emotionally while always encouraging me to go further in my analysis and expression. Under her guidance, I was able to explore story as both data and method, empowering me to humanize my research by bringing authenticity to my narrative, reimagining what scholarly contribution could truly mean.”

— Kristin Houck, PhD, CRC

I created Unfurling Voices after years of navigating the challenges of doing bold, values-driven work within academic and professional spaces. As a scholar, educator, and curriculum designer, I know what it takes to bring complex ideas to life—work that’s not only rigorous and polished, but also authentic, creative, and aligned.

With a background in teaching, writing instruction, and inclusive curriculum development, I support scholars and mission-driven organizations in shaping powerful ideas with both vision and precision. My approach blends big-picture thinking with close attention to detail, always grounded in care and collaboration.

The same creativity and intentionality I bring to my work also shape my life beyond it—whether I’m tending to animals, pedaling a bicycle, or learning from the natural world with my daughter.

Hi, I’m Rebekah Gordon, PhD (she/her).

Why Unfurling Voices?

“Rebekah—look at these fiddlehead ferns!” my dad said in a hushed yet excited tone. It was as if he was letting me in on nature’s best kept secret—if we didn’t proceed cautiously, these green coils might just retreat to the forest floor as mysteriously as they had first appeared.

Those are ferns? They’re so tiny! Where are all the fronds?” I curiously asked.

“They’re rolled up and tucked away,” he patiently explained. “The fiddlehead protects them as they push out of the ground.”

“How do they know when it's safe to come out and show their fronds?" I wondered aloud.

With the right conditions, they will gently unfurl and share their splendor with the world.”
